SNOWDROP COUNTRY WALK AT HARRINGTON  - SUNDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2012

The Harrington ‘Snowdrop Country Walk ’ takes place on Sunday 12th February 2012

from 1pm to 4 pm.  Snowdrops are one of the first of nature’s indications that Spring may be just around the corner and not a moment too soon.

Starting at the Village Hall, where an information pack with route map will be available (£2), this unaccompanied walk will embrace parts of the High Street with its picturesque stone cottages and the well known Tollemache Arms, also Church Walk, The Church of St Peter and St Paul with its famous vamping horn, and returning via the historic ‘Falls and Fishponds’, once part of a medieval Manor House.   Access to this listed site is by kind permission of Mr & Mrs B Warner

Returning to the Village Hall at the end of a very rural afternoon, tea and cakes will be available. The proceeds from this charity event will be for the maintenance and improvement of the 200-year-old Village Hall which serves the Harrington and Thorpe Underwood communities.

One final point, currently, the snowdrops and aconites are showing good buds and if all goes to plan should be full in flower mid February. However, nature does not always do as we would wish and ‘snowdrop updates’ will be posted on our website in the preceding weeks.
